IT LIVES

Hey Guys, I just want to check in to say that I'm not dead. I plan to resume posting in a few months, (June or July) when I've finished school and will have time to devote to dolls and doll crafts. I have a few posts in the works, so there maybe stuff before then, but I don't want to make any promises that I won't be able to keep.

So Finally

This was meant to be posted awhile ago, but life kept getting in the way.  I'm about two weeks away from final exams and in my break from studying/ working on projects, I've finished this up.

This a Cinderella doll that I got in high school, but she got shoved in a box, and I forgot that I had her.  I was looking for some old Pokemon toys in the basement, but I found her instead.  (I'm not complaining).
Here she is in her box

Close up

Her head came off in my backpack; it probably got caught on something

I like the box art.  The background behind her has her carriage and castle, if there weren't so many large holes in it, the box could be used as a small back drop.  My plan is to cut out the part with the castle and carriage for future doll projects, it would work great for a window.

The doll itself is nice, but one shoe keeps falling off and bodice fabric isn't as nice as the rest of the dress.  The shoe doesn't bug me too much, since she is Cinderella after all, I just to be a little extra careful in transporting her.

This is also going to be my last unboxing post for awhile.  I did say I was going to do one for Briar Beauty, but since its not hard to find reviews of her, I'm going to skip it.  Again, sorry this took so long.

Quick Update

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I'm done with midterms and will have a new post up in the next couple of days.

That Awkard Moment When You Thought You Dreamt Something and it Turned Out to be Real.

I wanted to make the title a reference to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" but I couldn't think of anything, so insert something clever like that here.

So basically, the back story to this, as a kid Cinderella was my favorite Disney Princess.  My mother looked and looked and couldn't find a Cinderella doll for me.  So when I was in high school one Christmas my mom found one and got her for me.  I wasn't really into dolls at the time, so I didn't open her right away.  I looked for her about a week later and I couldn't find her and I assume it was a dream.

When I was looking for some stuff at home, I found her.  She's really cute and I'm glad she's not a dream.

Just a heads up, I won't be posting for the next week or so, I'm headed into midterms and need to focus on those.    I plan to  post an unboxing of her and my Briar Beauty after that.

Doll Room Progress

I was looking at doll room tours on YouTube and I got inspired to work on mine.  I currently have two that I'm working on, Frankie Stein's bedroom (Not pictured, not on campus) and Bloom's bedroom.  I have Bloom's with me on campus.

I added the Daenerys Targaryen poster and the vanity.  I don't think I'm going to leave the vanity in there, but it makes the room look less empty.  The Alfea picture is going to be a window, and I'm going to add curtains eventually.  I haven't found fabric I like for the room yet.  Oh, and there's also a candle made from a glue stick.

I put in some shelves too.  I made more shelves, but I don't think I'm going to end up adding them.

So my future plans for this room is to add some kind of curtains, flooring, more posters (Sailor Moon), more furniture (bed for sure), etc.

My Winx Doll Collection

This post contains both my Mattel and Jakks Winx dolls

My Winx Dolls

The Trix with Sailor Mars, Vegeta, Goku, Sailor Moon, and Mc Donalds Bloom

Mattel:

Stella:
This was the first Winx doll I got.  She's pre-loved and from eBay, so I don't have her wings.  I do have plans to at some point make wings for her.

Flora:
This was my second Winx doll.  She's also pre-loved from eBay and has wing plans in her future.

Bloom:
She was my fifth Winx doll and my third Mattel one.  Like the others, she's pre-loved and an eBay find.

Jakks:

Bloom:
She was my first Jakks and my third Winx Club doll.  I ordered her from Amazon in 2012.  Her hair was unfortunately a mess, and for all my effort, it hasn't improved much.

Stella:
My second Jakks and fourth Winx.  I bought her from Target in August 2012.

Flora:
My third Jakks and sixth Winx.  I originally got the concert Flora for Christmas, but I exchanged it for her.  She and Tecna were purchased at a gross run down K-Mart.

Tecna:
My fourth Jakks and seventh Winx.  I got her when I got Flora.

Icy:
My fifth Jakks and eight Winx.  I got her, Stormy and Darcy at Toy's R Us.  You can read more about it here.

Stormy:
My sixth Jakks and nineth Winx.  I got her, Icy, and Darcy at Toy's R Us.

Darcy:
My seventh Jakks and tenth Winx.  I got her, Icy, and Stormy at Toy's R Us.

Vanity:
I got this on sale at Toys R' Us when I got the Trix.

Some Works In Progress...

Doll Pauldrons Test

So here are the pictures of the pauldrons.  I need to get some ribbon or string so I can attach these to my doll.  Other than that, they're done.

Winx Doll Dress
I've heard about using tape to draft patterns and I decided to give it a try.  I used a paper towel to protect the doll from the tape, but it made that pattern a lot bulkier than I was looking for.  I redid it by laying the tape sticky side away from the doll and then going over it with more tape, so the sticky sides were touching.  I did have a little stickiness when I did it like that, but since I used painter's tape, it came off without a problem.
